Xenos Christian Fellowship of Dayton Ohio

Questions Answered

When did Xenos start?

We started as a home church in 1985.  Our sister church is Xenos Christian Fellowship in Columbus, Ohio. It started in the early 1970s as an Ohio State University campus-based Bible study.  The Columbus church also boasts over 400 home-based groups, which form the core of the ministry of the larger fellowship.

Xenos Christian Fellowship of Dayton is a church focused on growing home groups.

What is a home church?

It is a group of people who meet in a house rather than a church building. For the first 400 years Christians met in homes before there were churches.

What is the goal of a home church?

To create a close knit, dynamic, intimate, small group, bible-based fellowship in which believing Christians can become excited and alive in their faith and to which seekers or non-believers can be comfortable coming with their questions and doubts and about Christianity, in order to

- win souls for Christ
- build a committed body of workers
- disciple new and growing believers
- grow and replicate small group communities that obey the
'one another' commands and carry out the Great Commission

Does Xenos of Dayton belong to a denomination?

We are non-denominational. We are loosely affiliated with other Xenos churches located in Cincinnati and Cleveland.

Are you a church or a Bible study?

We're both. The Bible defines a church as the body of people who are Christians, not a building.  All of our teaching is Bible based, with New International Version and New American Standard being the most commonly used translations.
