Statement of Belief

  1. We hold that the Bible is the inspired word of God. The sixty-six books that constitute the entire Bible are completely reliable and truthful. As such, the Bible stands as the central authority over our lives, our faith, and the direction of our church.  We affirm the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed.

  2. We believe that three persons have eternally shared the Divine Nature. Together, we refer to these persons as God. Individually, the Bible addresses them as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  3. God is both self-existent and personal. Jesus Christ, the Son, who is God and who dwells in bodily form, lived a sinless life, died for the sins of humankind, resurrected bodily on the third day, ascended into heaven and is coming again as reigning King. Christ is the only means of salvation (John 14:6, Acts 4:12).

  4. The Holy Spirit is God, and He indwells believers at the moment a person places personal faith in Christ's provision for his or her sin, empowering the person to live an effective Christian life.

  5. Salvation is reconciliation with God. It is offered by God's grace alone and is received as a gift and, thus, cannot be earned by deeds or merit.

  6. Human beings are created in the image of God. As such, humankind is unique among God's creation. Humans turned against God by abusing God's gift of freewill, and this resulted in spiritual death of all humans. Humans live in a state of alienation and profound need that can only be satisfied by reconciliation with God. Without such reconciliation, all persons stand under God's judgment.

  7. Satan is the personal adversary of God and His followers. Satan is doomed for final judgment. We take seriously, but in a balanced way, the existence of a personal spiritual opposition. Satan opposes the work of the church and the spiritual vitality of Christian believers.
